Official Scikit-learn Certification Launch

As machine learning continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, so does the demand for professionals who can validate their expertise with recognized credentials. To meet this need, we’re thrilled to launch the first official scikit-learn practitioner certification program, developed in partnership with members of the scikit-learn core team, industry leaders, and expert trainers. As the exclusive operator of this initiative, Probabl is dedicated to supporting the scikit-learn community and elevating the brand through this groundbreaking program.

The certification program is designed around three levels—Associate, Professional, and Expert—each tailored to different stages of a data science career. But this program is about more than just earning a certificate; it’s about raising the bar for responsible and accountable AI. AI is built by people, and for it to be trustworthy, the people behind it need to have the right skills and ethical grounding. Our certifications ensure that data scientists have the expertise to build solutions that are both effective and ethical.

We believe that certifications should be inclusive, providing opportunities for a wide range of professionals to demonstrate their skills. Whether the certification candidate is a job seeker, a career changer, or a professional looking to advance, our program offers a clear path to validation—regardless of age, gender, or background. Probabl’s goal is to create a fair, accessible pathway to recognition in the data science field, helping candidates stand out in a competitive job market.

Our certifications are supported by Kryterion’s Webassessor platform, which ensures secure, online proctored exams, giving candidates the flexibility to take their assessments from anywhere. Upon passing, candidates receive a digital badge from Credly, allowing them to easily share their achievements on platforms like LinkedIn. This combination of secure assessment and verifiable digital credentials provides a trusted, industry-recognized way to showcase your scikit-learn skills. 

Scikit-learn has long been a cornerstone of the open-source machine learning world, trusted by data scientists and researchers around the globe. It embodies values like openness, transparency, and collaboration, which are central to the European approach to technology. As an open-source alternative to proprietary AI platforms, scikit-learn empowers businesses, researchers, and institutions to build and deploy AI solutions without the constraints of vendor lock-in. With over 80 million downloads each month, scikit-learn is a critical building block for countless projects. Its role as middleware makes it fundamental to nearly a million projects and more than 15,000 structured packages. It’s a core piece of the broader ecosystem that drives innovation in machine learning and data science.

With the first official scikit-learn certification, Probabl aims to set a new benchmark for foundational AI education. Our three certification levels provide a structured path from junior data scientists to senior experts, with exams that rigorously assess the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. We believe this program will help create the next generation of skilled data professionals who can drive AI innovation responsibly.

We are proud to announce that Inria and Artefact have joined us as certification partners for the launch of scikit-learn certification. This collaboration brings together the best of academic rigor and industrial expertise, ensuring that our certification reflects both cutting-edge research and practical commercial applications.

Inria, the French national research institute for digital science and technology, which has supported the creation of scikit-learn since its launch, as well as the creation of the renowned scikit-learn MOOC, will help to ensure that our certifications remain connected to the latest advances in the field, offering a close link with the research community. Artefact, for its part, with a solid foundation in industrial applications of machine learning and a deep understanding of how machine learning can impact business, will help us ensure that our certifications remain relevant to industry practices and needs.

In collaboration with Inria and Artefact, we are promoting a certification program that confirms that professionals have the practical skills needed to solve complex business problems using scikit-learn. This certification program will play a vital role in establishing a “gold standard” and raising the bar for an entire community of machine learning practitioners using scikit-learn. In short, we are bridging the gap between academic excellence and real-world application of machine learning and AI.
